this is a warning. do not under any circumstances download this software. I am posting this page as reference material so that everyone can understand the warnings I'm attaching. the url is at http://audiomagic.roachhost.com/. Do not download this software. the software claims to be a free alternative to sound forge 8. the author claims it interfaces directly in to jaws. However, it doesn't. It has the nasty habit of deleting necisary windows system files. just so that everyone is aware. keep your eye out in case you see products like this in the future.
Thanks for bringing this up Liam. Allow me to elaborate a little.
This is one of many forms of a program coded by what I believe to be a blind person.
A. check out the aforementioned homepage...dont download the software. It's very simple. The person's knowledge in programming is obviously great, but his html is shite.
B. this person is on the zone. Recently a link was posted claiming to lead to a voice building application...it was the aforementioned program.
The program does much more than corrupt your windows...It deletes important documents from whichever drive it is executed in a haphazard fashion. Blind users should be vidulent...it was only a matter of time till a destructive program was written to target blind users. Sadly, that day has come.
Download/accept programs from known sources. Remember, the above can usually only occur from running executables, .exe, files. Be cautious about what you accept, ask a techy person if you aren't sure.
This has been a lot of quickly put together ramble, and it's late and im tired, but what I say is nonetheless perfectly valid. I have been attacked by this program and lost data. Congrats, coder, if you're reading. You're a tosser.
Thanks for letting us know, I'm into audio editing and probably would have tried the program had I not been warned ahead of time.
The thing to look for is the size of the program for the most part, because even total recorder is a sizable file for what it does due to the code needed to do all it's functions, and from what I heard of this virus, it's a batch file compiled into an executable. So I echo the warning, don't, get, this, program, because it also creates trouble in the boot sector as well.
The coder is a tosser alright, a salad tosser at even.
If a program which appears to be a powerful accessible app is under 900k, yes, be wary. Having said that, goldwave started off reasonably small, and it's pretty powerful. even now after years of development and implementation of new features, its only 1.8mb in size.
